How an Instagram preorder form works
Put one order link in your profile and stories so customers can reserve without a long DM exchange. Set the available quantities, order cutoff, and pickup details, then share one page. Customers reserve from that menu and pay in person at pickup.
The free plan includes CSV downloads for customer emails, orders, batches, items, prep lists, and discount codes. Stripe payments and automated customer emails are planned paid features, not live integrations.
Set up the page and share it
- 01Prepare the offer before posting
Add the products, photos, available quantities, order cutoff, pickup window, and collection point to your Preorder Form page. Check each option on a phone.
- 02Place the link where people look
Add the public form URL to your profile link area and label it so customers know it is the current order page. If using a link-in-bio tool, make the order link easy to find.
- 03Show the menu in a post or Story
Photograph the current batch and tell followers what is available, when orders close, and when pickup happens. Use a Story link sticker if available on your account.
- 04Reply with the same URL
When someone asks how to order, send the single reservation link rather than taking the item list in chat. Update any pinned or saved post when the batch changes.
- 05Close at the stated cutoff
Stop promoting the current menu after its cutoff and update the profile link before the next batch so customers do not arrive at an expired offer.
Copy-ready messages
Edit each example before sharing; messages do not send automatically.
Orders are open for {day}’s batch. {item one}, {item two}, and {item three} are available in limited quantities. Reserve through the link in our profile by {cutoff}. Pickup is {pickup window}; pay when you collect.
Thanks for asking! You can choose your items and pickup time on this order page: {link}. The available quantities and cutoff are listed there. Payment is collected when you pick up.

What changes when orders are in one place?
- DMs can be buried between story replies; one page keeps current reservations together.
- A comment thread is not a reliable quantity counter; item limits show what is still available.
- Pickup details can be repeated in every conversation; the page keeps date, time, and location beside the menu.
- Old posts can keep circulating; update the profile link and pinned information when the next batch opens.
Practical tips for using an Instagram preorder form
- Make the first profile link clearly say “Order” or “Preorder” so new followers can find it.
- Use the photos to explain the current batch, but put exact options and availability on the linked page.
- Repeat the cutoff and pickup date in the caption; do not rely only on text embedded in an image.
- Reply to comments and DMs with the same link to avoid creating a second order channel.
- Do not promise automated Instagram reminders; customers need to follow your account or check the page themselves.
Check inventory and pickup details before sharing; do not promise features that are not live.
Frequently asked questions
Can customers order from Instagram without a website?
Yes. Share the public Preorder Form link from your profile or Story. Customers open the order page to choose from the listed items and pickup details; they do not need a full website from you to make a reservation.
Can I take orders directly in Instagram DMs instead?
You can continue using DMs, but the form gives customers one menu and puts reservations into one list. If you accept an order in a message, add it to your records so the reserved quantities remain accurate.
Does the form automatically post to Instagram?
No. You share the page link yourself in your profile, posts, Stories, or replies. Preorder Form does not currently publish Instagram content or send automated customer emails. Check the current platform details before changing an active order.
Is Preorder Form free to use?
Yes. Preorder Form is free when customers reserve online and pay you in person at pickup. You can set up a page, manage item quantities, and download customer email addresses, orders, batches, items, prep lists, and discount codes as CSV files. Stripe payments and automated email sending are planned paid features and are not live yet.
Can customers pay online?
Online payment processing is not available yet. The current free workflow lets customers reserve items online and pay you at pickup using an offline method you arrange with them. Stripe payments are planned for a future paid plan; do not promise a card checkout until that feature is released.
